Brief History of Polytechnic College of Davao del Sur, Inc.
(1986-2008)
* Polytechnic school of Davao del Sur, Inc. a private, non-stock corporation and conceptualized by 12 daring educators and entrepreneurs from Digos, Davao and General Santos cities, was registered at the Securities and Exchange Commission on September 23, 1986 with a vision and purpose of offering technical-vocational programs for its clienteles in Digos, Davao del Sur and adjoining areas of Sarangani Province and North Cotabato.* Health Related Course in Midwifery and Psysiotheraphy as weel as technical-vocational programs were offered in 1987.* In 1992, the first BS in Nursing Course in Davao del Sur was opened.* By 1994, the registered name of Polytechnic School of Davao del Sur, Inc. was changed to Polytechnic College of Davao del Sur, Inc. The amendments include adding of courses at the tertiary level.* In 1996, BS Criminology and BS Computer Science were offered due to public clamor.* Before the turn of the millennium, the operation of PCDS, INC. was integrated at its present site at Kiagot Hills, along MacArthur Highway, Digos City.* In 2004, the two-storey A/V Building was constructed to house the air-conditioned Library and the Audio-Visual Room.* Last September 2006, PCDS, Inc. celebrated its 20th Foundation Day.* In 2007, the four-storey building was constructed to house the NursingFundamental Skills Laboratory, Lecture-Demo Rooms, Computer Laboratory and Classrooms.* This year, another four-storey building will be constructed which will house the HRM Mini Hotel, Criminology Deftac Room, additional classrooms and new offices of the Executive Officers to serve our clienteles better.
